Our Story
We’re not just a tile shop, we have a story.
​In 1958, an Italian migrant and craftsman Gennaro, moved to Australia to start a new life with his beautiful wife Maria. He wanted to bring the rich history and beauty of Italy he missed to his new home country. He was always inspired by the antique Italian ceramic tiles that covered the floors in the homes and historical buildings from his region.
In 1977, he returned to Bologna, Italy to purchase his first container of tiles and the import of ceramic tiles arrived into Victoria. He opened a small store in Coburg and began to supply tiles to homes across Melbourne. He was one of the very first Italian migrants to embark on this journey.
Almost 50 years on and he continues to run his business with his three children, Erneste Tile Concepts mission remains the same from the very first time they opened their doors: “To supply the best best quality tiles from across the world to homes and businesses across Australia.”
So when you shop at Erneste Tiles you are purchasing a piece of history, and sharing the Erneste’s family love of tiles.
